Sabotage, Doomed Cargo and Murder at Dawn

Sabotage is one of the early Hitchcock films. Karl Verloc (Oskar Homolka) is a cinema owner. He is married to Sylvia (Sylvia Sidney). Sylvia’s little brother, Stevie (Desmond Tester), also lives with them. Karl becomes a member of a gang planning to place a bomb at Piccadilly Circus with the aim of causing fear and panic. But he is being watched by Ted (John Loder), an undercover Detective Sergeant from Scotland Yard. Ted afterwards becomes friendly with Karl’s wife Sylvia and her younger brother Stevie. When the gang assigns Karl to put a bomb in the metro, he tells Stevie to deliver it to Picadilly Circus and leave it in the cloakroom. But Stevie is distracted by a number of things and their plot begins to unravel.

The film’s main casts are Desmond Tester, John Loder, Joyce Barbour, Oskar Homolka and Sylvia Sidney. Filming locations include Gainsborough Studios, Shepherd’s Bush, London, England. This film is also known as “I Married a Murderer”.

Seven Sinners / Doomed Cargo (1936)

US private detective John (Edmund Lowe) and female insurance investigator Caryl (Constance Cummings) are trying to find a serial killer. While they are on vacation in France, John finds a dead body. He informs the authorities but no one believes him because when they return the corpse is gone. Later a terrific train accident occurs and John sees the same corpse among the dead in the wreckage! It seems that someone either wrecks trains to murder people or causes a wreck to hide the body of a victim. John and Caryl have to work it all out by solving a series of murder cases in Europe.
